| It is so exciting to me to see the Lord work in my life and my husbands. He always hands over a lesson or a sermon or a scripture passage that I need just when I need it. - Last Friday night at our Care Group, Chris taught from James 1:2-4 which addresses having joy amidst trials.
- Michael has been going through 1 Peter with a friend, dealing with enduring "momentary light affliction" (which actually was Nero burning Christians at the stake) and he has been relaying everything to me!
- Michael and I also just finished reading through Matthew, and we read the last four chapters in one sitting, giving us a fuller picture of His death and resurrection than just doing the one chapter a day as we had been.
All of this to say that it is so great to be encouraged by the Lord and to see His love and care for my husband and me. I hurt my knee and have to stay off of it for a while. Not the hardest thing to deal with, (especially with my sweet husband serving me and taking great care of me), but my God still cares to encourage me. - James just further excites me to see what and how He will teach us through this awkward time of frozen pizzas and limited housework.
- 1 Peter gives me contentment in knowing that this small "problem" in our lives is NOTHING compared to what those believers were going through, and Peter even refers to their persecution as "light affliction." I am encouraged to have a happy attitude and to be patient.
- Finishing Matthew really hit home what everything is all about. Jesus is the axel of everything, and history and future revolve around His death and life. Reading it once again has put everything into perspective for me. It is all about Him. Even getting through this little time, being joyful and grateful and content, all of these verses I've talked about are not really to make me feel better about what’s going on. It’s all to glorify Him! Praise Him that He is glorified by encouraging me.
What great reminders! And He chose to hit me up with them with such an easy trial. Maybe when the next trial rolls around, I'll be that much more prepared to face it with a godly attitude. God is good, all the time. |
